Unfortunately macOS 10.15 Catalina is the first macOS that only supports 64bit applications. The EyeTV version you have is version 3.5 or older, which is a 32bit application. IвЂ™ve been using EyeTV for many years as my favorite TV-watching software, but since I recently upgrade to macOS 10.15 Catalina, the EyeTV software will no longer runвЂ¦

then close the System Preferences window.

if you get a popup warning вЂњEyeTV will not have access to files in your documents folder until it is quitвЂќ click the вЂњQuit NowвЂќ-button.

in the list that now appears on the right, scroll down to EyeTV and put a checkmark at вЂDocuments FolderвЂ™.

in list on the left, click on вЂFiles and FoldersвЂ™.in the Security & Privacy window, click on the вЂPrivacyвЂ™ tab.

in the System Preferences window, click on Security & Privacy (iron Home icon with circular dial on it).

make sure you are in the System Preferences window (main window), if not, click the вЂdots in a gridвЂ™-button in the top menu bar of the window.

from the pulldown menu select System Preferences.

click on the Apple-icon in the top menu bar of your screen.

click on вЂForce QuitвЂ™ and make sure EyeTV app is quit (so there is no longer a black dot below itвЂ™s icon in the Dock).

in the popup menu, the regular вЂQuitвЂ™ option will now turn into вЂForce QuitвЂ™.

quit the EyeTV app by clicking on itвЂ™s icon in the Dock while pressing the ALT-key on your keyboard.

The problem is not in EyeTV, itвЂ™s in the new extremely strict security and privacy settings that are new to macOS 10.15 Catalina. This is so strange, because EyeTV 4 Beta was running fine on this same MacвЂ¦ Even uninstalling EyeTV and all associated files completely (using the EyeTVreporter.app) and then reinstalling doesnвЂ™t fix this eitherвЂ¦ Deleting the preferences (using the EyeTVreporter.app) doesnвЂ™t help either. IвЂ™ve also tried to download and install a newer version, but that doesnвЂ™t help either. I have tried reinstalling the app, but that doesnвЂ™t help. So after buying the all new EyeTV 4 (64bit) at Geniatech (who took over EyeTV from Elgato) I installed the app, but whenever I try to run it, I get an вЂњApplication not respondingвЂќ error.

EyeTV will not install on any Mac running less than Mac OS 10.4.Since I upgraded to macOS 10.15 Catalina, I had to buy the new version of my beloved EyeTV app.

This is different from your proof-of-purchase code or the serial number printed on the tuner вЂ“ neither will work as an activation key. Your EyeTV key is a 26 digit string of letters and numbers.

If you are still unable to input this information, please send the key or a scan/photo of the activation key card to Geniatech SupportВ so we can assist. If you updated to EyeTV 3 by mistake, please reinstall EyeTV 2. Please also note that EyeTV 2 activation keys will not work with EyeTV 3. Please note that the key provided with this article is for example purposes only and is not valid. Please note that all EyeTV keys should include one block of five letters and/or numbers, followed by three more blocks of seven characters. See below for an example of an EyeTV 3 key that has been decoded into its constituent parts. If in doubt, compare this character to the V in EyeTV printed above the key. UвЂ™s are flat-bottomed, while VвЂ™s are pointed.

Please carefully check and recheck to be sure you are not using any OвЂ™s or Zeros in activation keys вЂ“ the closest character is D. Most EyeTV installations that fail during the key input phase do so due to user input errors.
